Former Vice President Kamala Harris made her highly anticipated return to the public stage on Wednesday in San Francisco. This was her first speech since her loss in the 2024 presidential election. She delivered the keynote address at the 20th anniversary gala for Emerge America. This organization assists women in the Democrat party to run for office. In her speech, which comes on the heels of Mr. Trump’s 100th day in office, Harris aimed at her former opponent, saying that “instead of an administration working to advance America’s highest ideals, we are witnessing a wholesale abandonment of those ideals.”
Harris said that the Trump administration and his allies are “counting on the notion that fear can be contagious. They are counting on the notion that if they can make some people afraid, it will have a chilling effect on others.” She went on to call Trump’s tariffs and trade war “the greatest man-made economic crisis in modern presidential history.”
