Plea set for man accused of cannibalism

A plea hearing has been set for a college student who confessed to authorities that he killed a man and ate parts of his heart and brain.

Alexander Kinyua is charged with killing a man from Ghana in 2012. The victim had been staying with Kinyua’s family in a Baltimore suburb. Kinyua is scheduled to appear in Harford County Circuit Court on Monday.

Kinyua pleaded guilty, but not criminally responsible for a separate case of an attack of a man on a college campus with a baseball bat.

According to authorities, Kinyua was making statements about “mass human sacrifices” on Facebook shortly before he murdered his victim.

He has been committed to a psychiatric hospital.
