President Obama gave a press conference Wednesday afternoon in response to the midterm elections and the upcoming Republican majority in both chambers of Congress, as well as his plans for the future. In the conference, which lasted over an hour, Obama touched on immigration, the Keystone project, education, healthcare, tax reform, ISIL and bipartisan cooperation through the end of this Congress and into the next. In his closing remarks, on the subject of elections he as a politician did not like, he stated “maybe I’m just getting older, but it doesn’t make me mopey. It energizes me, because it means that this democracy is working.” Overall, the president expressed support for discussion and cooperation on a forthcoming detailed Republican agenda, and plans to continue pushing what he feels is best for the American people. The president hinted at upcoming announcements on Iran negotiations and the Attorney General appointment. Obama will meet with John Boehner and Mitch McConnell for a leadership meeting Friday.
