Newport News man charged with creating and possessing explosives

Newport News resident John C. Elder has been charged with making and possessing explosives after a police search of his home in May. Battalion Chief Steve Pincus of the Newport News Fire Department says the 24-year-old man has been charged on three counts of creating, possessing, or using a bomb or explosive after police found two pipe bombs and other dangerous materials in his home during their search.
