Naval Academy sexual assault case begins on Tuesday

A former U.S. Naval Academy football player, Joshua Tate, accused of sexually assaulting a classmate is scheduled for military trial Tuesday after a weather delay on Monday. Opening statements will be given in the court-martial of Tate in Nashville, Tennessee today when originally scheduled for Monday. The opening statements were delayed because of snow. Initially, Tate and two other students were accused of sexually assaulting a female student during a party in 2012 at an off-campus house in Annapolis, Maryland. The woman did not remember being assaulted, but heard from others that she had had sex with multiple partners at the party. Tate is facing charges of aggravated sexual assault and lying to investigators and he is now the only one charged in the case.
