National Zoo panda celebrates 17th birthday
Mei Xiang, a giant female panda at The Smithsonian’s National Zoo, celebrated her 17th birthday on Wednesday. The zoo gave her a frozen panda-friendly cake to celebrate. The zoo announced Thursday that Mei Xiang’s cub recently died because of liver and lung damage.
