To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the beginning of The First World War, the plan to build a national memorial in Washington is in full swing. They plan to break ground on Veterans Day 2017. Edward Fountain, the vice-chairman of the U.S. World War One Centennial Commission, hopes congress will pass a bill by the end of the year which would allow Pershing Park on Pennsylvania Avenue to be re-developed into the national memorial. The memorial is expected to cost between $10 to $15 million dollars.
