The longest government shutdown in history, which is under the Trump administration, entered its 43rd day on Wednesday. The Senate voted to reopen the government, however, SNAP benefits continue to be blocked by Trump and the Supreme Court, which voted to put a temporary hold on releasing SNAP food benefits. As Trump withheld food benefits from some of America’s poorest and most vulnerable children and elderly citizens, he held an extravagant “Great Gatsby” party at his Mar a Lago estate for Halloween. As the deadline for receiving SNAP benefits passed, this weekend Trump held a second decadent party at Mar a Lago.
