Kids left in car for hours while parents attended wine tasting

Two young children were left alone in a car for hours Saturday afternoon. The parents had attended a private wine tasting at a D.C. restaurant. The police received a call around 5:40 p.m. from someone who had spotted the kids. Both of the children are under the age of 2. The couple were arrested in Ris, a ritzy restaurant near Washington Circle at 23rd and L Streets in Northwest. The kids were kept safe in a police car until they were picked up by the District’s Child and Family Services. Charges of first degree cruelty to children were filed against the parents.
