Judge rejects whistleblower claims of D.C. officers

A judge has rejected the whistleblower lawsuit brought to court by three D.C. police officers.

The officers said they were retaliated against for raising concerns about inaccurately calculated breath-testing equipment used to evaluate suspected drunk drivers. The police department stopped the use of these machines in 2010 after the discovery that the test could make a driver’s breath-alcohol content seem higher than it was.

The officers also suggested that lawyers in the attorney generals office encouraged them to give false testimony.

A judge ruled in the district government’s favor and rejected the lawsuit on Tuesday. He claimed there was no evidence to support the officers’ claims.
