John Stewart takes time off

Comedy Central announced that John Stewart would be taking an 8-month break from hosting “The Daily Show” in order to direct a film. Stewart will host his last episode in June in which he will then allow British comedy star John Oliver to host the show during his absence.

Stewart has written and will be directing a film titled, “Rosewater,” based on a book by Iranian journalist Maziar Bahari. Bahari was wrongly accused of being a spy and was jailed by Iran’s government while trying to cover the Iranian presidential elections. Stewart is expected to return to “The Daily Show” in September.
