Fairfax County expected to get 9,000 new jobs

Within the next 12 months, the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA) reported it expects 9,000 new jobs will be created. President and CEO of the FCEDA, Gerald L. Gordon said, “While much of the country and many parts of the world, struggled economically in the past year, Fairfax County continued to thrive and be the economic engine of the Washington, D.C., area and Virginia.”

The new jobs will generate from 159 companies which are predominantly located in the U.S., while some are located beyond the country’s borders. According to a 2010 report, Fairfax County houses 13 percent of Virginia residents, while it is responsible for 16 percent of employment. CNBC named Virginia America’s “Top State for Business” last year and cited Fairfax County as one of the motives.
