U.S. Central Command has announced that an attack on militants in the Khorasan Group was successful. CNN reports that U.S. forces fired at a vehicle believed to carry David Drugeon, a young French bomb-maker who has ties to al Qaeda in Pakistan. The group, a focus of the current air campaign by U.S.-led coalition forces in the area, is made up of senior al Qaeda members who branched off into Syria. Defense officials have not confirmed the hit on Drugeon, but have confirmed that the strikes “resulted in the intended effects.” The attack resulted in destruction or severe damage to Khorasan Group buildings and vehicles near Sarmada, Syria.
