D.C. Council to reject more ambulance deployment

The D.C. Council seems ready to reject a proposal made by the district fire department to deploy more ambulances during the day and reduce the number of ambulances on duty at night.

Councilmember Tommy Wells has suggested that the Council reject the redeployment plan, which was presented by Fire Chief Kenneth Ellerbe. Wells is the chair of the committee overseeing the fire department.

According to reports, the fire department has yet to establish a baseline for the amount of ambulances needed to serve the district’s growing population.

Currently, the district has 39 ambulances on duty at all times.
