Cole Porter’s ‘Anything Goes’ hits D.C.

The Cole Porter classic ‘Anything Goes’ will be playing at the Warner Theater for a two-day engagement on Wednesday, February 25 and Thursday, February 26. Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett covered the title song on their Grammy-winning duet album Cheek to Cheek. Legendary singers Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald covered the song “I Get a Kick Out of You.” And Steven Spielberg used the show to open “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom,” presenting a musical number performed by his now wife, Kate Capshaw. The D.C. performances are part of a national tour following the show’s Tony win for Best Musical Revival in 2011. Emma Stratton plays the lead, Reno Sweeney, a nightclub singer who gets caught in a messy love triangle while performing on an ocean liner sailing from New York to London.
