Carly Rae Jepsen drops out of Boy Scout performance

Every year, the Boy Scouts of America host a 10-day celebration of their organization called the Jamboree. This year Carly Rae Jepsen and the musical group Train were scheduled to perform. Both artists have decided to drop out of the musical performance after becoming aware of the BSA’s ban on openly gay individuals participating in the organization.  Jepsen is the latest to drop out. She explained her reasoning stating that she is “an artist who believes in equality for all people.” Train had similar reasons for deciding not to perform. The Jamboree will host over 50,000 Boy Scouts this year and directors of the event state that while they respect everyone’s right to express an opinion, they are choosing to remain focused on providing a great experience for current Boy Scouts.
