Cain blames Perry consultant following third harassment leak

A third former employee stepped forward Wednesday, claiming Cain had engaged in inappropriate behavior. According to her, the former National Restaurant Association employee worked with Cain in the late 1990s. She said Cain made sexually suggestive remarks and gestures towards her, even inviting her to his corporate apartment. Cain called the report an example of “baseless allegations.” A Cain spokesman has said “we could see other baseless allegations made against him as this appalling smear campaign continues.”

Cain went further to blame the leaks on a consultant with ties to Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s campaign. The Perry campaign and the consultant in question denied the accusations, saying they did not know about the allegations until the story was published on Sunday. The Perry campaign suggested someone from former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney’s staff might be to blame, an accusation that has been denied by Romney’s campaign.
