Muriel Bowser, D.C. Mayor-elect, announced Friday the schedule for her 2015 inauguration. The event will last three days, and include activities for young and old. The whole thing kicks off on New Year’s Day with an all-ages 5K run/walk, for which registration is already open. The next day, January 2, will start at 8 a.m. with an interfaith service at the First Congressional Church of Christ. After the service, the formal inauguration will take place at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center at 9:30 a.m. Joining Bowser to also be inaugurated will be Attorney General-elect Karl Racine, Council Chairman Phil Mendelson, and other members of the council, to take their oaths of office. The D.C. Proud Inaugural Ball will begin at that location at 7 p.m. Residents can register online for tickets, or pick them up in person, beginning December 15. On January 3, a kids’ inaurual party will take place beginning at 2 p.m. at the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center. The event is open to children aged 12 and younger and their families; tickets are required. Tickets for that event will be available beginning December 13 on Bowser’s website.
