The Phillips Collection celebrates its 90th anniversary while showcasing the masterpiece of their collection, Renoir’s Luncheon of the Boating Party. The exhibition, titled 90 Years of New: Renoir’s Luncheon of the Boating Party and European Masterworks, runs from Sept. 2 through Dec. 31, 2011. In addition to the artwork installation, the exhibition also features Renoir-inspired menus, with dishes including Burgandy escargot, Poulet au vinaigre and Coq au vin with mushroom risotto.
The event promises to be a connection to the French culture depicted in Renoir’s painting, immersing viewers while giving them a French culinary experience. Phillips Director Dorothy Kosinski says of the exhibition, “We’re excited by the opportunity to create a link between the visual and culinary arts and to celebrate French culture in an innovative and delicious way.”
