Yusuf Abdi Ali, who is accused of committing war crimes while serving as a Somali military commander, has been living near D.C. and working in security at Dulles International Airport for about 20 years, reports CNN. He currently lives with his wife in an apartment in Alexandria, Virginia. Ali is accused of committing atrocities during Somalia’s civil war in the 1980’s and 90’s, including torturing people, burning villages and conducting mass executions. “He oversaw some of the most incredible violence that you can imagine,” Kathy Roberts, a lawyer with the Center for Justice and Accountability, told CNN. Ali and his lawyer, Joseph Peter Drennan, deny all accusations brought forth in the CJA lawsuit.
