2nd man pleads guilty in campaign finance scheme
A businessman out of Philadelphia admitted to receiving $132,000 worth of reimbursements for political contributions, all as a part of the growing campaign finance scandal.
On Monday, Stanley Straughter pleaded guilty in federal court to a misdemeanor campaign finance violation. Straughter has done finance work with Jeffery Thompson, the former owner of a large accounting firm in the district.
Straughter was a part of a network of donors who contributed to candidates running for local, state, and federal offices.
Thompson is suspected of funneling close to $650,000 worth of illegal funds to District of Columbia Mayor Vincent Gray’s 2010 campaign.
