Worker struck by VDOT dump truck dies

According to Virginia State Police, a contract worker for the Virginia Department of Transportation was fatally injured after being struck by another VDOT dump truck in Loudoun County. The incident occurred early Thursday morning in Ashburn on Belmont Ridge Road at the intersection of Chesterton Street. The worker had pulled his truck off to the right shoulder and was standing near the rear of the truck near the spreader when he was struck by the other truck. The worker was transported to Loudoun Hospital Center where he later died. The driver of the other truck was not injured. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
