Montgomery County officials confirmed two new cases of whooping cough across private and public schools in the area Thursday. This brings the total number of confirmed cases up to 14. Mary Anderson, spokeswoman for the county’s Department of Health and Human Services, revealed that all except one of the children had attended the same summer camp in Pennsylvania before returning to school. All of the camp attendees had been vaccinated against the disease, and officials suspect the spread was due to waning effectiveness and the need for boosters among that age group.
