Washington, D.C. council members have proposed new legislation that would fight back against fake temporary vehicle tags. This legislation would allow city workers to tow and impound vehicles displaying counterfeit tags. This act, The Fraudulent Vehicle Tag Enforcement Amendment Act of 2023, was first brought forth by council member Brianne Nadeau. Nadeau says that “right now, we have way too many fake or expired tags on vehicles across the city, and we’ve really seen a correlation between those fake tags and reckless driving.”
