Va. youth basketball team disqualified for female member
A youth basketball team from Charlottesville, Va. was disqualified from their tournament last week because of a girl on the team. The rule, written by the National Travel Basketball Association this year, was invoked only after the team made it to the finals. The rule says that girls cannot play with the boys in national tournaments even though there is no problem with co-ed league games an scrimmages. The Charlottesville Cavaliers coaches say that they were unaware of the rule change and have not received an explanation for the new addition. The coach of the team might take legal action against the NTBA for the disqualification.
