Sofia Vergara gets engaged

Funny actress Sofia Vergara said “yes” to boyfriend Nick Loeb’s proposal. The “Modern Family” actress, who is currently enjoying her 40th birthday at a Mexico resort, is also celebrating her engagement to her on-again, off-again love. Loeb, 36, proposed to Vergara during a visit to Chichen Itza, some Mayan ruins near the Rosewood Mayakoba resort where Vergara and her group of 90 birthday revelers are staying. The Colombian actress broke the news on Monday by posting a photo of her new diamond ring on her friend Fernando Fiore’s Twitter.

Vergara first met Loeb at a Golden Globes party in 2010. The pair split ways after “fighting for a long time” in early May, though they reunited just weeks later. An insider explained, “They have a crazy relationship … They break up and make up. They fight and make up hard!”

Vergara, who will star in the upcoming film “Three Stooges,” has a 20-year-old son from a previous marriage. The actress married her childhood sweetheart Joe Gonzalez as a teenager, but the couple split in 1993.
