Smithsonian limits gallery closure to 3 museums
Although Congressional budget cuts have been put into affect, the Smithsonian museum will only close 3 exhibits. Smithsonian officials plan to close off the sections of 3 building between May 1st and Sept. 30th.
As a part of the budget cuts, the museum must reduce its budget by $42 million. The Smithsonian will close a small exhibit space in the National Museum of African Art, a section of the Hirshhorn Museum, and the common area of the Smithsonian Castle. No major exhibits will close.
