Sinkhole opens near Disney World
In central Florida, a 60-foot-wide sinkhole opened under a resort, causing one building to collapse and another to sink. Guests inside the Summer Bay Resort in Clermont were evacuated after reportedly hearing loud noises and windows cracking. The resort is ten minutes from Disney World.
One of the resort buildings sunk into a 15-foot-deep crater while the other building crumbled. According to the resort president, Paul Caldwell, the evacuation began around 10:30 p.m. after a guest at the resort informed employees of a “window blowing out.” There were no injuries reported.
