Sewage spill prompts Deep Creek Lake restrictions
According to Garrett County officials, over 36,000 gallons of sewage spilled into a creek that leads into Deep Creek Lake.
Officials have imposed swimming and fishing restrictions in the northwestern end of Marsh Run Cove, where the wastewater spilled on Friday. The Maryland Department of Natural Resources has placed warning buoys in the area.
Officials are waiting on tests conducted on water samples to determine whether these restrictions should remain in place.
