Season Premiere of “The Voice” Overshadowed by Katie Couric

The season premiere of “The Voice” dominated on Monday in terms of sheer number of viewers, but it suffered a dramatic loss in viewership compared to its previous season openers. Compared to the previous season premiere,  total viewership was down 39% and decreased by 15% compared to last season’s Monday night average. On the other hand, Katie Couric’s brand new talk-show, “Katie,” received a 2.8 rating, the highest in daytime premiere history since the premiere of “Dr. Phil” in 2002.
