Romney makes a comeback with first presidential debate

After the devastating setback of the notorious “47 percent” video, Romney has reinvigorated his campaign by, according to polls and pundits, giving a winning performance at last night’s Presidential Debate. CNN interviewed 430 registered voters, 67% of whom stated that they felt Romney was the debate’s winner while only 25% believed that Obama dominated the event, with the remaining percent saying they felt it was a tie. CBS conducted the same interview with more than 500 registered voters, 46% believed Romney won the debate, 22% believed Obama won, and 32% said it was a tie. Wall Street Journal Columnist Daniel Henniger called Obama’s performance “flustered.” It was a debate that left Republicans relieved and Democrats concerned. However; as is always the case in political debates, both sides had plenty to say after the fact. Obama campaign strategist David Axelrod called Romney’s performance a shell game and said they would challenge Romney more aggressively in the future. While Romney senior advisor Ed Gillespie stated, “The American people got to see Gov. Romney for themselves and hear his own policies.”
