Poll: Obama and Romney tied at 47 percent
According to a poll released by NBC and the Wall Street Journal, the presidential campaign is a dead heat. Republican candidate Mitt Romney shows a slight lead among battleground states, while Obama leads 49% to 44% amongst a more broad sample of voters. One thing’s for sure, the race, as Chuck Todd said on NBC’s “Meet the Press” program, will be a “cliffhanger.” Obama campaign adviser David Axelrod said in an interview with NBC that he always felt Obama’s reelection campaign would be close. “If you look at the early voting that’s going on around the country, it’s very robust and its very favorable to us,” said Axelrod, “and we think that’s a better indicator than these public polls, which are frankly all over the, all over the map.” Obama’s lead over Romney has gotten progressively slimmer over the past few weeks. After the third presidential debate both candidates are scheduled to make cross country campaign stops, including stops in Iowa, Colorado, Nevada, Florida, Virginia and Ohio for the Obama campaign.
