The latest move made by the Trump administration has been Dan Bongino’s appointment as FBI deputy director. Bongino is a former U.S. Secret Service agent who later became a conservative commentator and fierce Trump supporter online. His clear support for Donald Trump has allowed him to gain a massive following from other conservative influencers. His actions and comments online have also earned him a ban from YouTube for promoting misinformation. He is the host of a popular radio show named after himself as well as a daily podcast that was ranked the 7th most popular podcast in the U.S. in January. Trump said that Bongino is “ willing and prepared” to give up his presence on social media to serve Trump’s new administration after he was announced as the new appointee.
In a social media post Sunday night Trump stated, “Great news for Law Enforcement and American Justice!” Trump wrote on Sunday night. “Dan Bongino, a man of incredible love and passion for our Country, has just been named the next DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF THE FBI, by the man who will be the best Director, Kash Patel.” The deputy director of the FBI supervises domestic and international operations and is traditionally a career FBI agent, unlike Bongino.
