O’Malley establishes transportation task force
Governor Martin O’Malley has named 11 people to serve on a task force that will look for innovative ways to fund local and regional transportation projects.
O’Malley’s former chief of staff, Matthew Gallagher, will chair the Local and Regional Transportation Funding Task Force.
The task force also includes Transportation Secretary Jim Smith, four state lawmakers, and local officials from Howard and Wicomico counties and the cities of Baltimore, Frederick, and college park.
The task force will study the options available for county and municipal governments on how to fund transit and highway projects. The group will submit their findings to the governor and the General Assembly by Dec. 15.
