Nintendo is not allowing same-sex marriage in a new life simulator video game, Tomodachi Life. Gamers were not given the option to choose gay avatars named “Mii”. Although the company claims they, “never intended to make any form of social commentary,” gamers are furious with this design feature. Tye Marini, a Nintendo fan who is in the middle of arranging his marriage to his partner, finds this upsetting. He stated, “ I want to be able to marry my real life fiancé’s Mii.” Marini has launched a social media campaign to pressure Nintendo to create a same sex marriage option, but Nintendo has since declined.
