Newsmax has agreed to pay $67 million to Dominion Voting Systems to resolve a defamation lawsuit over the network’s 2020 election coverage. Dominion accused Newsmax of allegedly spreading false claims that its voting technology was manipulated to favor Joe Biden, claims that were repeatedly debunked and mirrored those promoted by Trump allies on the network.

The settlement, announced in an Aug. 15 SEC filing, includes an initial $27 million payment, with the remainder due by January 2027. While Newsmax did not admit wrongdoing, the company criticized court rulings that it said “strongly favored the plaintiffs” and limited its ability to defend itself. Dominion says the false claims caused significant harm, including death threats and lost revenue for the company and its employees.
