Man jumps into river to flee police

Police are awaiting a toxicology report for 59-year-old Julius Chandler Jr. after he jumped into Wicomico River in order to escape authorities. Chandler died on Tuesday of accidental drowning.

Officers were following Chandler through back roads due to his reckless driving. The chase ended when Chandler proceeded to stop and get out his car, jump into the river, and swim away.

A water rescue team went in after Chandler but could not find him. His body was pulled out of the river hours later.
