The Washington Post reports that a man is in custody after he tossed a package over the White House fence. A Secret Service spokesman told the Post that the package was found to be harmless upon inspection. The incident occurred at 5:20 p.m. Thursday, when the man threw the object over the north fence. Officials shut down two blocks of Pennsylvania Avenue in front of the White House for about an hour to investigate. The man’s name has not been released.
