Man charged in elementary school scare

A Virginia man who brought a sign reading “high powered rifle” into an elementary school has been indicted.

Claiming to be promoting a message on school safety, 33-year-old Christopher Johnson arrived at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Strasburg, Virginia just days after 26 children were killed by a gunman in Connecticut at a school with the same name.

He was indicted Wednesday and is charged with one count of disorderly conduct for the December stunt.

Johnson is due back in Shenandoah County Circuit Court on October 30.
