Madonna sued by France’s National Front Party
Megastar Madonna is being sued by a far-right political group in France. The group is upset with the singer-actress after she aired a video showing National Front party leader Marine Le Pen with a swastika on her forehead during a concert in Paris. The video was used as a backdrop for her performance of “Nobody Knows Me.” The controversial moment came when the leader’s forehead was superimposed with a swastika, and was followed by an image similar to Nazi leader Adolf Hitler. The National Front vice president Florian Philippot said, “We cannot accept such an odious comparison … This is just another provocation in Madonna’s world tour so that people will talk about her.”
French presidential candidate Le Pen had already given the “Material Girl” singer advance warning that she’d file suit after the same clip aired during a Tel Aviv concert in May, but the 53-year-old singer did it anyway. Madonna, who is recognized as the world’s top-selling female recording artist of all time, also flashed her nipples and her buttocks to the crowd on Saturday.
