Keith Urban’s American Idol judging role brings back memories

Australian born country music superstar will be seated alongside pop singer megastar Mariah Carey and stayer Randy Jackson this season on the judging panel of reality singing competition “American Idol.” This is not new territory for him. He has been a judge for the Australian version of “The Voice” and a contestant on a show very similar to “American Idol” when he was just 9 years old. At a press conference, Urban recounted how one of the three judges pulled no punches, telling Urban to get out of country music and get into “real music.” “I obviously took it to heart,” chuckled the four time Grammy winner.
