Gay D.C. principal resigns immediately after contract was not renewed

Pete Cahall, Principal of Wilson Senior High School in Northwest D.C. has announced his immediate resignation. Cahall came out as gay at the school’s Pride event earlier this year, an event which made the news, as Mayor Vincent Gray was in attendance. D.C. Public Schools pointed to low student test scores as explanation for not renewing the contract, although Cahall originally planned to finish out the 2014-2015 school year. Assistant Principal Gregory Bargeman will act as principal for the remainder of the school year.
