Gadhafi believed to be hiding in Western Libya

Moammar Gadhafi, on the run since the collapse of his regime, is believed to be hiding in the western town of Ghadamis, near the border of Algeria. It is alleged that he is under the protection of Tuareg tribesmen. Gadhafi’s son Sai al-Islam is in Bani Walid and another son, Mutassim, is in Sirte, according to an interim government military spokesman.

Gadhafi’s exact whereabouts could not be verified. There are arrest warrants out for Gadhafi and Saif al Islam, for alleged crimes against humanity committed after the start of the Libyan uprising. Though Libya is now under new leadership, many citizens face threats from Gadhafi supporters.
