Michael Poth, 22, was sentenced to 11 years and three months for the fatal stabbing of Phillip Bushog, 24, in April, 2012. Poth, a former Marine, was charged with second-degree murder, but was acquitted by a jury of that charge and convicted of voluntary manslaughter. The death of Bushog, also a Marine, occurred April 21, 2012 near the Marine barracks where Poth was living when Poth got into a fight with Bushog and that man’s friend. Poth was sentenced by D.C. Superior Court Judge Russell F. Canan.
