WASHINGTON, DC – Former DC Public School official faces over a decade for bribery and wire fraud

A former contract specialist for DC Public Schools, Dana Garnett, faces up to 15 years in prison after she was found guilty of bribery and wire fraud charges.
According to court documents, Garnett accepted illicit payments from multiple vendors in exchange for awarding them contracts with DCPS. Some of these payments were allegedly tied to falsified orders, with vendors submitting false certifications and providing Garnett and a co-conspirator with cash. It is reported that in some instances, the vendors delivered significantly fewer supplies than what DCPS had paid for, as part of a broader scheme to defraud the school system. Garnett and the co-conspirator both pleaded guilty before the case went to trial.
