Fairfax Co. board chair to have thyroid surgery

Fairfax County Chair Sharon Bulova announced Monday that she will be having surgery to remove part of her thyroid later this month. In her statement, she said there is a nodule on her thyroid that must be removed and that she will return to work after the outpatient surgery following Labor Day weekend. Bulova has been the chair of the board since 2009.
