Katie Couric is engaged

Katie Couric and longtime boyfriend, John Molner, are engaged.  The engagement was confirmed Tuesday by Couric’s spokesman, Matthew Hiltzik.  After spending the weekend in East Hampton, 50-year-old Molner proposed to the 56-year-old former “Today Show” host and mother of two.

Couric who suffered the loss of husband Jay Monahan to colon cancer in 1998, has been dating Molner for almost two years.  The successful television personality’s talk show “Katie”, will air its second season on Monday.

Following the proposal, Couric posted a celebratory Tweet, via Twitter reading: “Yes it’s true!  So touched by all the kind Tweets & warm wishes-thank you!  A great end to the summer & looking fwd to seeing you all Monday!!”
