Ellen Degeneres receives Mark Twain Prize for American Humor

Ellen Degeneres has been named the recipient for the 15th Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. “I’m flattered, it’s fantastic,” said Degeneres about receiving the award. “I am very, very proud of Ellen. She’s not only the funniest person I know, but she’s such a good person,” said Degeneres’ wife Portia de Rossi. Friends and colleagues, including Jane Lynch, John Krasinski, Jason Mraz and Kristen Chenoweth, gathered at the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts to celebrate Degeneres’ acheivement. The Prize was established in 1998 to honor artists that have contributed to the world of comedy. Past recipients include Kristin Chenoweth, Steve Harvey, Sean Hayes, Jimmy Kimmel,      John Krasinski, John Leguizamo, Jane Lynch, Jason Mraz, Lily Tomlin, and Loudon Wainwright III.
