Dallas Ebola patient has died, U.S. to begin airport screenings

The patient suffering from Ebola in Dallas has died, officials at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital have reported. Thomas Eric Duncan travelled to the U.S. From Liberia, and was diagnosed with the virus in September. His intimates have been under monitoring since that time. Duncan began receiving treatment only just over a week before his death Wednesday. Also Wednesday, a federal official has stated that passengers arriving from West African countries will be screened for fever as their flights arrive at U.S. airports. These screenings will involve a temperature measurement, and will begin this weekend or next week. At this time there are fewer than 15 cases recorded or being treated outside of the “Ebola zone.” In West Africa, more than 7,400 people have contracted the disease since the outbreak began to grow.
