D.C. Council set to endorse $9.4 billion budget

The Washington, D.C. Council is preparing to endorse a $9.4 billion budget plan, which includes longer bar hours on specific days and an expansion of traffic cameras that will ticket drivers. The D.C. Council is set to vote on the budget on Tuesday, according to the Washington Examiner. The plan was given preliminary approval in May.

The new budget plan includes extending bar hours to 4 a.m. on 19 nights in 2014, including holidays and specific weekend holidays. The plan also doubles the number of traffic cameras in the city and permit changes to parking meter fees. The parking changes include raising the price of parking during high demand times and could generate an extra $3 million for the nation’s capital.
